Nepal Wireless: This Man Brought WiFi to 60,000 People

A man named Mahabir Pun first dreamed of connecting his village of Nangi to the internet in 1997, and today more than 60,000 people in the Annapurna Region have access to the World Wide Web thanks to Nepal Wireless. Some of these places in fact are so deep within the region that travelling there can only be reached after several days travel on foot.

Having Nepal and a very ambitious climb to Mt. Everest on our bucket list, we have to credit those who do everything they can to welcome travellers for a good cause. If one of your resolutions this year is to be more charitable, this is how you can help:

1. Providing financial support for the expansion of the network.
2. You can send used wireless equipment.
3. You can travel to Nepal and volunteer to provide computer training in schools.
4. Provide your skills as a software developer or network engineer.

Find out more on their website, and remember to do your good deed for the day!

Start checking off that bucket list
