Where Would The Devil Wears Prada 2 Characters Stay On Holiday? Inside The Chic Stays Approved By The Fashion Set

From ultra-luxury chalets in Niseko to wellness villas in Bali, we’ve mapped out the perfect stays for Miranda, Andy, Nigel, and Emily.

It’s been two decades since The Devil Wears Prada first hit the screens, and yet its grip on fashion and culture hasn’t waned. The acerbic one-liners delivered by Runway Magazine’s editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley remain in circulation — the whispered “that’s all” still echoes — while the swan-like transformation of Andrea Sachs from dorky assistant to confident journalist is a makeover many millennials would love to experience themselves (myself included).

So it comes as no surprise that there is so much anticipation for The Devil Wears Prada 2, the follow-up film that launches on May 1st, just a few days before the Met Gala. This time around, even the real-life Vogue magazine is part of the campaign by putting Miranda (played by Meryl Streep) and Anna Wintour on the cover of their April issue

The sequel explores the seismic changes in the media world, as well as the lives of four main characters: Miranda, Nigel, Andy and Emily. Their careers may have moved on, but their taste? That hasn’t changed a bit.

Here’s where each of them would check in when they travel with The Luxe Nomad.

Miranda Priestley (played by Meryl Streep), Editor-in-Chief of Runway Magazine

Draped in immaculate designer outfits and hair coiffed with architectural precision, Miranda Priestly has ruled Runway with her impeccable taste and intimidating presence. Exacting and incredibly intelligent, she treats mediocrity as a personal affront. In the sequel, print media crumbles around her and yet Miranda isn’t one to give up — navigating Runway’s existential crisis with the same composure as rejecting a story idea (Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking).

Where would Miranda Priestly stay?

Tsubasa at Hanaridge. Niseko, Japan.

When you’ve been on the pinnacle of the fashion world for most of your life, five-star service is your business as usual. Needless to say, only the absolute best will do for Miranda. In Niseko, that means nothing less than chalets with butler service. Case in point: Tsubasa at Hanaridge, which was awarded Japan Best Ski Chalet in 2024 by the World Ski Awards. Designed by Riccardo Tossani, the chalet has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Mount Yotei, a grand piano anchoring the open-plan living space, a 40sqm indoor-outdoor onsen and two chauffeured vehicles (there’s no trying to get up Hirafu-zaka on foot for this one).

Corniche Hirafu. Niseko, Japan.

There’s also Corniche Hirafu, a 580sqm masterpiece on Hirafu’s prestigious Millionaires’ Row, with soaring six-metre ceilings, designer furnishings from European brands Flos and Poltrona Frau, and a private hot spring onsen perfect for unwinding after hectic fashion weeks events.

Praana Residence at Panacea Retreat. Koh Samui, Thailand.

When seeking sunshine in Koh Samui, Miranda would approve of Panacea Retreat, a sprawling hilltop estate of five private villas with lush landscaping that frames sweeping views of the Gulf of Thailand. The fully-staffed property has a spa on site and a private pool — everything one would need to completely switch off.

Nag Shampa Private Estate. Bali, Indonesia.

And in Bali, only Nag Shampa Private Estate near Ubud will suffice. This serene eight-bedroom estate in Taro village has three in-house cooks who source ingredients from the organic orchards and a yoga shala encircled by the main pool. Owned by Sam and Isabella Branson (yes, that Branson), for Miranda it’s sort of like staying with a family friend.

Nigel Kipling (played by Stanley Tucci), Art Director of Runway Magazine

Though Nigel has worked the cutthroat world of fashion for decades, he hasn’t lost his heart and humility. In the original film, he emerges as the most loveable truth-teller — the one who gave Andy a dressing down (and up) and told her that fashion is a “shining beacon of hope” and something to take seriously. Loyal to a fault, Nigel has given everything to Runway. Now, with the magazine struggling to survive in a new media landscape, he remains the beating, beautifully dressed heart that would fight for it against all odds.

Where would Nigel Kipling stay?

Yuki Drift. Niseko, Japan.

The pursuit of beauty is central to Nigel’s life so much so that art, architecture, and design are not mere passions — they are his oxygen. In Niseko, he gravitates to Yuki Drift, a brand-new chalet set in the Kabayama forest just five minutes from the ski lifts. Crafted from cedar wood, with every room framing a slice of magnificent forest, Nigel is drawn to the warm minimalist interiors that define this chalet. His favourite spot? The private onsen — mineral-rich waters, tranquil forest views, and not a soul in sight.

OurTale Villa Melissa
Villa Melissa. Bali, Indonesia.

In Bali, Villa Melissa in Canggu catches his eye. This exquisite beachfront property part of the Pantai Lima estate blends traditional and contemporary design across more than 800sqm. He’ll love the grand colonnaded walkway — which he’ll treat like a runway, of course — and revel in the privacy of direct beach access. We can imagine him getting a well-deserved soak in the T-shaped pool that blurs the line between the villa and the Indian Ocean. Or perhaps, trying surfing when he’s feeling a bit adventurous.

Kelapa House. Koh Samui, Thailand.

Over in Samui, Nigel will certainly pick Kelapa House — a stunning example of tropical modern architecture by design firm A49. Set on a cliff, the villa’s glass walls make the entire property feel like it’s floating above the island. The furnishings from B&B Italia and Poltrona Frau are a giant tick in his book, and so is the immensely photogenic 17-metre infinity pool perched above Chaweng Noi Beach. A villa that looks good from every angle, we’re pretty sure he’d feel entirely at home in this cinematic escape.

Andrea Sachs (Played by Anne Hathaway), Journalist and Features Editor of Runway Magazine

Andrea Sachs, who otherwise goes by Andy, arrived at Runway in sensible shoes and left in Chanel thigh high boots. Warm, principled, and grounded, she was always the most human person in an inhuman world. In the sequel, Andy returns to find Miranda embroiled in scandal and is left torn between writing the exposé of the decade or helping the woman who, for better or worse, made her.

Where would Andrea Sachs stay?

Shiyuki: Chalet Living Space
Shiyuki Chalet. Furano, Japan.

Off-duty, Andy seeks out the road less travelled — soulful places that locals themselves would love to explore. In Japan, she chooses Furano rather than the celebrity circuit of Niseko. Here, we imagine she’ll check into Shiyuki, a two-storey chalet with panoramic views of Furano Valley designed with wooden kominka-inspired beams creating a sense of authentic Hokkaido living.

Manu Villas. Bali, Indonesia.

In Bali, Andy is likely to visit Sanur, a district away from the Seminyak crowds that is experiencing a renaissance (with plenty of local eats, too). Manu Villas speaks to her perfectly — an elegant villa reflecting Balinese heritage that is just steps from the beach and near the island’s best cultural attractions. Plus, fitted with solar panels and with thoughtful landscaping that reduces heat, the villa is eco-conscious, too.

Baan Hinyai. Koh Samui, Thailand.

In Koh Samui, Andy would skip the Chaweng bustle and head south to the quieter shores of Lamai, where Baan Hinyai feels like a secret too good not to share. The villa is set among giant granite boulders cascading down to a near-private beach. With a private chef, sea-view rooms with freestanding bathtubs, and a kitchen stocked for relaxed mornings, it has style and substance — just like Andy herself.

Emily Charlton (played by Emily Blunt), former Assistant at Runway Magazine turned Luxury Brand Executive

Razor-tongued and ferociously stylish, Emily Charlton survived on espresso and the dream that she would one day go to Paris right by Miranda’s side. Obsessed with fashion and a natural fit for the fast-paced industry, she always wanted to be a gatekeeper and rose to become just that. In the sequel, Emily has left publishing and is now a high-powered luxury brand executive holding the advertising funds critical to Runway’s survival. We’re all waiting to watch the film to what she’s going to do next.

Where would Emily Charlton stay?

Niseko Kyo Private Onsen. Niseko, Japan.

Skiing isn’t new to Emily and for her there’s no option but to book ski-in ski-out properties (unless it’s a chalet, of course). The luxurious Niseko Kyo is her natural habitat: a stylish, condo-hotel in Upper Hirafu with 22 exclusive residences with private onsens and literally just steps from the slopes. The rooms are dressed in European designer furnishings from the likes of Molteni&C, while downstairs the buzzing restaurant Masonry. Niseko makes sure après-ski is covered. It doesn’t hurt that Niseko Kyo is in the middle of everything, making it the best possible location to ski and be seen.

Akashi Residence. Bali, Indonesia.

In Bali, Akashi Residence in Canggu delivers a luxury stay that is private and yet still in the coolest neighbourhood. Formerly Boss House Bali, this show-stopping villa is distinguished by a spectacular spiral water slide that winds through the central atrium into the pool below. It’s also just minutes from Pererenan’s best restaurants and beaches.

Villa Akatsuki. Koh Samui, Thailand.

Settling is not in Emily’s vocabulary so in Koh Samui, that means heading straight to the serene western shore of Lipa Noi, well away from anywhere too obvious. The sleek Villa Akatsuki is the kind of place she’d consider an appropriate reward for her efforts: a striking beachfront estate conceived by architect Riccardo Tossani. Three cascading infinity pools descend toward the Gulf of Thailand, the in-house spa is on hand for recovery, and the private chef means she never has to compromise — on anything.
