What to Do When You Lose Something At The Airport

Hey, it happens to all of us.

When you’re carrying all that luggage, with a coffee and magazine stash in tow, sometimes you leave something important behind. And what do you do when you finally realise it 30,000 feet in the air? Or what if you forget about your laptop in the overhead bins?

Ok, that’s enough panic. This is how to handle it:

#1 Make a call ASAP

Avoid being passed around from department to department with the right info

But most importantly, it has to be to the right department; that’s either the airport or the airline. If you can’t pinpoint where you might have left your belonging, call every line you can get that may help. Keep the contact number of the airport’s Lost and Found Department in your phone — and on a piece of paper just in case.

#2 Tweet About it

So if you haven’t already, now’s a good time to get on social media

This may seem silly, but you’d be surprised how quickly airline representatives respond to their social media channels, with Twitter clocking in the fastest response time. Don’t be shy, go ahead and tweet a couple of times. There’s no reacting calmly when you lose something valuable, and you’ll be thankful you went a little “crazy” when you have your belongings back with you.
