Bali may be the Island of the Gods, but sometimes, if Bali the area becomes just a bit too bustling, it might be best to head for the seas. Take a few days, charter a luxury yacht and escape to the Gili Islands for a change of scenery and discover an underwater paradise.
Bali to Gili Nanggu
Day 1 – morning
Depart to Nanggu. Nanggu is a peaceful paradise with a pristine and often deserted beach that’s great for snorkelling. Nanggu is one of Lombok’s lesser-known Gili Islands, compared to Gili Air, Gili Meno and the famous Gili Trawangan, which is the busiest of the island group and popular amongst young travellers.
Nanggu
Day 1 – afternoon
Spend the afternoon exploring the coastline. When you’ve had your fill of swimming and spotting the varied marine life, step back aboard for a sunset cocktail on the deck and enjoy the tranquillity of the stunning island scenery.
Gili Gede
Day 2
Gili Gede lies near Gili Nanggu in southwest Lombok and offers further escape from the crowds. There are lots of places on the island to visit and sites to see, both onshore and beneath the water’s surface. Snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are just a few of the water sport options well suited to this island paradise.
Nusa Pendida and Nusa Lembongan
Day 3
Make your way back towards Bali and discover 100-metre cliffs, crystal waters, and an abundance of marine life. Here, not only can you find magical scenery, but incredible cultural sites like a temple within a cave at Pura Gua Giri Putri and a ‘car temple’ at Pura Palung.
