Malaysia to Koh Samui Just Got Easier with New Direct Flights from Berjaya Air

Koh Samui is now one luxe flight away from Malaysia.

Island lovers, this one’s big. A brand-new direct route from Malaysia to Koh Samui is finally taking off — no Bangkok stopovers, no extra transfers, no fuss. Berjaya Air has just announced its first international routes, including a premium direct service from Subang (near Kuala Lumpur) to Koh Samui, set to launch on 22 April 2026.

Why does this matter? Well, as much as we love going to Koh Samui, it has long been a slightly tricky destination to reach. Most travellers have to transit via Bangkok and then connect with Bangkok Airways, which has historically dominated access to the island. This new route changes the game.

Operating three times a week, the service is designed with resort-bound travellers in mind. Think: A seamless, stress-free journey that gets you from city to beach in one smooth ride. And it’s not just any run-of-the-mill flight experience either: Berjaya Air is going all-in on a boutique, business class only concept, with just 26 seats aboard the ATR 72-600 plane for a more private, elevated journey.

In short: fewer crowds, more comfort, and way more time with your toes in the sand.

For Southeast Asia travellers (especially those hopping around the region), this is a long-overdue upgrade, making Koh Samui feel closer and a whole lot more tempting for a spontaneous island escape. PSA: we do have some great last-minute offers if you’re game.

Where to Stay in Koh Samui

Now that getting there is easier, here are three standout villas to bookmark for your next island getaway.

Kelapa House

Perched high in the hills of Chaweng Noi, Kelapa House is an architectural masterpiece designed by the award-winning firm A49. This four-bedroom sanctuary gets its name from the surrounding coconut trees (kelapa in Malay) and offers a “treehouse” perspective of the Gulf of Thailand.

The villa’s highlight is its 17m saltwater infinity pool, featuring a unique glass panel that allows for surreal underwater views of the coastline. Inside, you’ll find designer interiors by B&B Italia, a state-of-the-art Technogym fitness center, and a dedicated spa pavilion for post-flight pampering. It is the ultimate choice for those who want a sleek, modern hilltop retreat that makes you feel like you’re in a Bond film.
