Postcard from Here: Inside Entrepreneur Lindsay Jang’s Niseko Getaway

If there’s one thing that’s for sure, you can’t put Lindsay Jang in a box. Entrepreneur, mother, wellness advocate, and all around creative, she moves fluidly between worlds, bringing the same sharp eye and grounded sensibility to everything she touches.

Best known for co-founding Yardbird in Hong Kong — the Michelin-starred yakitori restaurant that helped define a new wave of dining in the city — Jang’s influence extends far beyond the plate. Whether she’s launching a wellness concept, building a creative agency, or simply choosing where to be next, Jang does things with flair. She puts the same intentionality to the way she holidays. Here, we speak to her on how she switches off and why she keeps coming back to Niseko.

Why I chose to travel to Niseko:

This wasn’t my first time in Niseko. I’ve been exploring this destination for several years now. What keeps drawing me back is the incredible powder, but also how it’s become this perfect family destination for us. With two kids who need space to decompress after big mountain days, but close enough for us to stay connected, Niseko has this unique energy. Yes, it can be chaotic with the crowds and lift lines, but I was specifically looking for a property like Niseko Kyo that could create calm within that complexity —somewhere that understood family dynamics.

What did you love most about your trip with The Luxe Nomad?

The seamless experience from start to finish. The Luxe Nomad completely eliminated every stress point — no booking drama, no logistics headaches, just pure presence with my family and consistently amazing powder. What impressed me most was how you anticipated needs before they became problems. It’s exactly what I try to achieve in my restaurants — that level of service where guests can focus entirely on what matters most.

What was the most impressive element of Niseko Kyo?

Definitely the private onsen. After long days on the mountain, sinking into the warm waters while watching snow fall outside became our daily ritual. It wasn’t just luxury, but genuine recovery and restoration. Equally impressive was your team, especially Florian and Rory. They exemplified everything I believe about exceptional service — friendly, helpful, but more importantly, always thinking three steps ahead. Their anticipatory approach reminded me of the best hospitality experiences I’ve had.
